Growing up, my family took road trips every summer. My sister and I, in true sibling form, spent a lot of hours fighting/whining in the back seat. One year, my sister and I learned to make paper cranes and that summer we spent hours in the back of the car folding cranes out of whatever scraps of paper we could find (road maps, national park brochures, receipts, etc).
Two years ago, my sister had a health crisis which, thankfully, she pulled through with flying colours. That Christmas she gave me a mobile of paper cranes that she had made. It is my most treasured possession and it hangs in the window by my bed so that it’s the first thing I see every morning; a daily reminder of how lucky I am that out of all the sisters in the world, I got the best one!
